Cargo bicycles often transport loads in excess of hundred kilograms. The cargo bicycles are single-speed, made of steel, and weighing in at 20 or more kilograms. Spare parts are scarce, and there are many bicycles built from reused parts of other bicycles. Brake pads are attached with wire to the brake shoe holders, and a piece of rubber tube replaces the springs of the calipers. The carriers are self-made heavy-duty constructions.
